2017 Annual Fall Retreat

"Transformation...from Grapes to Wine"

Hello Beloved Fellow Dancers,

We look forward to seeing both familiar and new faces at our annual Fall dance retreat in northern Florida!

This year our retreat will be held from Thursday, October 19 - Sunday, October 22, 2017.

We will be returning this year to the Life Enrichment Center in Fruitland Park FL, where our retreat was held in 2015. The Life Enrichment Center offers many wonderful features, such as: a spacious dance hall, motel style rooms, a beautiful labyrinth, a large lake, a peaceful chapel and a cozy campfire amphitheater. The food selection and quality at the Life Enrichment Center cafeteria is outstanding!

Our retreat theme this year is "Transformation...from Grapes to Wine." We are blessed to have Allaudin Ottinger, from Missouri, as our dance leader this year, accompanied by our own Florida guitarist Mike Felisko. Also, our favorite Whirling Dervish Habiba Cynthia Dollard will be returning to Florida to teach turning and Qi Gong.

Allaudin is a professional musician and is known as one of America's best-loved leaders of the Dances of Universal Peace. He has facilitated camps, seminars and retreats around the world since 1979 and is a senior teacher in the Sufi Ruhaniat International.

It has been said of Allaudin that, "his exceptional musicianship, creativity and spontaneity are the seeds of ecstatic experiences of the transformational, healing power of the sacred arts."

Mike has been playing guitar and singing in rock bands since he was 16 years old. He began playing guitar as an accompanist for the Dances of Universal Peace in 1998.

He serves as the regular accompanist for monthly dances in Daytona Beach, FL led by his wife Jemila Felisko. At last year’s Florida Fall Dance Retreat, Mike was the lead accompanist for retreat leader Leilah Be.

Habiba has been involved in the Dances of Universal Peace since the mid-1990’s. She has long been "taken by the notion of body prayer as expressed through movement and breath."

In recent years Habiba has been inspired to incorporate the prayers and practices of Hazrat Inayat Khan into the breath and movement practices of Qi Gong to deepen her practice of embodied prayer. The prayer of the Turn is a natural outcome.

In the Spirit of Love, Harmony and Beauty,

Jemila Felisko - Retreat Leader
